This is H's best friend, Oso. He loves this bear so much. He won't go to sleep without him, except sometimes in a car ride.
This picture was taken on a day, not unlike any other day but for one thing. Lisa had been teaching swim lessons at the YMCA, and the boys were in the child care area for about an hour. H had brought Oso with him, but somehow, he had forgotten to make sure his friend was packed up for the ride home. When Lisa and the boys got home, it was nap time. Ollie went down like a champ. Well, more accurately, he went down like a champ that had been knocked out and was now asleep, allowing someone else to be the new champ.
In any case...
H, however, realized that Oso was a persona non aqui.* "Va izzy?" came the question (where is he?) at this first realization. Lisa stopped, looked around, and could not locate Oso. "Va izzy?" H repeated, the palms of his hands up and shoulders shrugged in a I don't know gesture. Lisa scrambled to the van -- it was a bear-free zone. While Colbert would have been proud, H thinks Colbert should shut it when it comes to Oso. The van, the purse, the diaper bag, and even kitchen and garage: Oso no en casa.**
The phone call came at work, "Adam, could you swing by the Y and pick up Oso on your way home?" Glad to! I did, and I immediately took the above picture to send to my boy to reasure him that "Iz here."
The return of Oso was like a shortcut through the poppy fields in The Wizard of Oz, and H was out like a light (specifically a light that had been turned off). Peace was restored. Life was good. Shalom reigns.

H set up his bear, Oso, and his cow, Vaca, on the toilet to go to the bathroom.
Oliver is moving and shaking. And drooling. We've been noticing that when we're not looking, Ollie is finding his way to different parts of a room. I decided to setup a nice trap to record him in action. At first, it seems more like inaction, though.
